TIDS ‘n BITS
First released in 2014, this mythical print has become so popular, it is found on a myriad of scarf designs and home goods. Designed by Alice Shirley who reinvents the legend on this scarf and takes it to Southern Africa by combining the myth of Pegasus and the untameable spirit of the Zebra.
“Zeus’ celestial mount, which brought out the source of the muses with a strike of his hoof, and which the king of the gods turned into a constellation, abandons the immaculate whiteness which is generally attributed to him to adopt the two-tone coat of the zebras. And to perfect this unique, exotic portrait, its wings take on the shimmering colors of parrots!” Hermes
This charming nano scarf required expert skill to create the scarf in this delicate smaller format.

The Hermes Scarf History:
Exactly 100 years after its founding Hermes had its first scarf debut in 1937 and since then each scarf has told a story in elaborate intricate designs from the whimsical to the harmonious. Hermes scarves evoke emotions from the equestrian to mythology and has been loved through the decades by a myriad of women throughout the world and are coveted and collected.
In 1987 with the creation of L’Annee du Feu D’Artifice Hermes began to create a theme each year.
Did you know, the first scarf was Jeu des Omnibus et Dames Blanches, based on a woodblock print by Robert Dumas?
Today the scarves are still produced in the same manner, silk screened by hand, and completed with hand-rolled hems and stitching.
Over 2000 designs have been created and takes about two years to make from inception.
Along with limited editions and reprints of older designs in new colours, two collections of silk scarves and two collections of cashmere/silk blend scarves consisting of nine prints each are released every year.
Since Hermes scarves are so beautifully designed, often times they are framed and used as coveted artwork on walls.
